Lec dem on "Navarasas in Carnatic Music"

I gave a lecture demonstration on "Navarasas in Carnatic Music" last Saturday at the Siva Vishnu Temple. It was interesting to deliver a lec-dem (for the first time!). I presented the following:

viribONi - in Adi tALam for adbhutam
aThANA raga alapana for vIra rasam followed by nArada gAna lOla
kharaharapriya - dayavillayA dayALO - for karuNA rasam
indendu vaccitivirA - padam in surutti for beebhatsam
jANarO in khamAs - for shringAram

smarasundarAnguni - upon request
adi nIpai - yamuna kalyani

It was a great experience and Smt Pavani and Shri Balajee enriched it with their outstanding support!

Hi Gokul, I attended it and it was a great presentation. Gokul has not only the knowledge but also the ability to transform it into presentable material. I only thought of Neyveli Sir. Jut like him, the bhava, bhakthi and rasa was delivered. It inpires me a lot because I am a beginner Carnatic Music learner and believe in "Sangeetha gnyanamu bhakti vina sanmargamu galade?".

Hi Ashwin,
Thank you for your appreciation. Glad that you liked it and hope that you continue sticking to the "sangeeta jnAnamu bhaktivinA" path!

Dear Mr. Gokul Iyer
Good that you gave a demonstration on Rasa and it was appreciated.
I have a remark. You have used Bhairavi for Adbhutha rasa. It is not the best raga for this. Behag would have been nicer (song Idu tahno Thillasthalam for instance). Besides one should try to usethe lyrics that would also convey the rasa. How come ViriBhoni varnam was chosen?
